Ismail Sabri: CMCO extended in KL, Selangor and Sabah until Dec 31

PUTRAJAYA: The conditional movement control order (MCO) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah will be extended to Dec 31, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The minister said this is due to the risk assessment from the Health Ministry, who feels that the Covid-19 figures in the states are still at a high.

The conditional MCO was supposed to end on Dec 20.

For Selangor, the order applies to all districts except for Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor which has returned to recovery MCO on Dec 6.

In other states, Ismail Sabri said the conditional MCO has also been extended to Dec 31 for the following districts: Seremban and Port Dickson districts in Negri Sembilan; Johor Baru, Batu Pahat and Kulai districts in Johor; Mukim 12 and Mukim 13 in Penang, as well as Ipoh and Chemor in Perak.

Meanwhile, the conditional MCO for the districts of Kulim in Kedah as well as Kubang Kerian and Kusial in Kelantan will end as scheduled on Dec 20.

These places will revert to the recovery MCO.

The enhanced MCO at the Seremban Prison and its quarters will be extended to Dec 31.

Ismail Sabri also announced that an enhanced MCO will be enforced on the Kluang Prison in Johor and its quarters, following a rise in Covid-19 cases in the area.

The enhanced MCO for the prison will be from Dec 19 to Dec 31.

Ismail Sabri also said the police nabbed 170 individuals on Thursday (Dec 17) for not complying with Covid-19 SOPs, such as the wearing of masks.

All 170 individuals were issued compounds.

The offences included failure to provide check-in facilities at premises (96 individuals), failure to wear face masks (five), failure to adhere to physical distancing rules (17), participating in entertainment outlet activities (six) and others (one).

He said 2,916 enforcement teams under the Royal Malaysian Police conducted 49,599 random checks at supermarkets, restaurants and markets for SOP compliance.
